Bio

Earthfolk yoga songstress Ashlee K Thomas was raised at the foot of the Wasatch Mountains in Sandy, Utah. Growing up in the magic of nature had a profound effect on Ashlee, and its influence is ever present in her songwriting. She has spent years traveling the world, exploring, practicing yoga, and sharing her music wherever she goes, from Panama, Peru, and Mexico to India, Kauai, and throughout the United States, finding her audience and sharing Earthfolk music and Fireflow yoga with everyone she meets. Of her purpose, Ashlee says, ‰ÛÏI want my music to stir up thoughts and emotions, the way yoga does for the body. I want to connect to the people who love this earth.‰Û

Ashlee K Thomas‰Ûªs introduction to music began at the age of four, when she began studying violin in the Suzuki method. Though twelve years of violin gave Ashlee many fantastic opportunities, such as playing with the Utah Symphony, Igor and Vesna Grupman, and Joseph Silverstein, and receiving a music scholarship to college, picking up the guitar and singing is when Ashlee truly found her musical voice. A lyricist by nature, Ashlee K Thomas‰Ûªs words are refreshingly honest and to the core. She quickly developed her own musical style of beautiful melodies intertwined with daunting key changes. This sound, combined with her writing and natural gift of pitch, evolved into the unique genre that can only be called Earthfolk.

The release of Ashlee‰Ûªs first album Peace is in the Trees in 2006 was accompanied by a tour of the Western United States, from which Ashlee donated ten percent of her record sales to the United Leukodystrophy Foundation to help find a cure for the disease that took her brother‰Ûªs life. Two EPs have followed, Aedis in 2008 and Ashlee K Thomas in 2011, while Ashlee has moved to Nashville in pursuit of her craft and purpose ‰ÛÒ a path which has also led her to yoga. ‰ÛÏYoga practice is the parallel path that runs alongside the path of life,‰Û says Ashlee. ‰ÛÏIt is about finding your satya, your truth. It is about finding the love of oneself, and therefore finding more love and compassion for others. It is about letting go and accepting the natural flow of your authentic path.‰Û

It is no surprise to those who have practiced with her that her teachers recognized Ashlee as a teacher herself, which led to her own style of vinyasa fusion, Fireflow. But for Ashlee there is no separation between sharing music and sharing yoga. ‰ÛÏYoga is slow medicine, and Music is its perfect compliment. When people practice yoga, their bodies and minds begin to open. That opening causes a lot of different sensations, including bliss, fear, love, energy, vulnerability, and even some pain. If I can guide them towards an opening, physically and emotionally, and then put honest words and songs into that place, it can assist in their transitions. It's like if they hear someone being that open and honest verbally after they have been that opened physically and mentally, it allows them to feel safe and okay with all that they are feeling.‰Û It is Ashlee‰Ûªs devotion to blending music and yoga that has led her to find a way to share both Earthfolk and Fireflow on the road and around the world.

A determined, passionate artist, Ashlee K Thomas is dedicated to her beautiful path: to move the masses with music and yoga, and help as many people as possible along the way.
