Cooper Lavalee
My name is Cooper Lavallee [luh-VAL-ee]. That’s two L’s and two E’s at the end there.
I am a nationally touring singer-songwriter from Ogden, Utah. I have been playing music since I was 8 years old. Before turning 21, it was a pretty dry career, mostly playing coffee shops and street corners. The coffee was never free. On the street, a guy who called himself Jesus tried to light me on fire. He even put a curse on me to give me cancer. I have been terrified of rubbing alcohol and oncologists ever since. I also played in one (1) battle of the bands. We got disqualified for my colorful language. A karaoke singing duet ended up winning. They were, admittedly, better than us.
In between selling shoes, pouring lattes, and stocking produce shelves, I taught guitar, bass, and ukulele lessons for about 5 years. I taught one-on-one in peoples homes, in groups at outreach centers, and in studios. I was mostly a glorified babysitter.
After a brief and poorly planned cross-country move, I returned to Utah in March of 2024. I immediately had the itch to travel again. So I threw a bed in the back of my car and the touring life began. I have played shows in over 40 towns in 8 states since then.
My music has been described as folk, country, blues, Americana, bluegrass, rock, “indie” (whatever that means), and some people even venture to say it is “pretty good”. In recent memory, I have drawn comparison to Neil Young, Bob Dylan, Townes Van Zandt, Blaze Foley, John Prine, John Craigie, Johnny Cash, Jack Johnson, my friend Jon, Hank Sr., Hank Jr., Heath Ledger, Heath Bars, and hangnails. All of that is real. I’m not sure what kind of picture that paints for you. Branding is not my forte.
I am available for booking anywhere - pubs, hotels, cafes, restaurants, speakeasies, resorts, nursing homes, dental colleges, embalming schools, homes for unwed mothers, homes for wed mothers, insane asylums, sane asylums, U.S.O. canteens, kindergartens, and county jails.
