Memoryfield
memoryfield deserves to be heard. This eclectic and highly accomplished trio, consisting of vocalist IRIS, guitarist/vocalist Billy R. Preston and Juliet Gamero on keyboards/vocals have been writing and recording together since their early beginnings in Austin, Texas, cutting their musical and professional teeth in the highly competitive and self-proclaimed ‰ÛÏLive Music Capital of the World‰Û. Preston and Gamero toured extensively in the region and recorded three albums with the band dizzybloom. IRIS spent several years as a professional songwriter and performer in Nashville, landing many of her compositions in television and film. She brings a great sense of commercial viability to the group. This newly-formed partnership is now ready to show they have what it takes to make a lasting impression on the current musical landscape. Their sound has been described as a mixture of both the old and the new, a bold statement of non- conformity and difficult to classify into a single genre. They have always believed that modern music can be upbeat and entertaining yet still be thought-provoking and capable of serious musical depth and soul-searching exploration. With the addition of songwriter IRIS the music has taken a distinct turn towards powerpop and modern upbeat rock while still retaining a bit of retro-tinged musical edge. IRIS is a singer-songwriter from Orem, Utah, and is currently recording new material with the help of local musical friends in memoryfield.åÊ She spent several years as a professional songwriter and musical performer in Nashville and has quite a few credits to her name with compositions that have landed in several television commercials and small indie film projects.åÊ Her music tends more towards modern pop but with highly sophisticated melodies and chord progressions not often found in today's typical Top-40 offerings.åÊ With lyrical subject matter that ranges from simple happiness and the small joys found in life to those that deal with sorrow and loss, the music of IRIS can be both uplifting and positive to downright mournful, soul-searching and sublime.åÊ Her voice is unique and unassuming, straight-forward with a nod not only to older established artists such as Carole King and Joni Mitchell but also to more modern artists such as Ingrid Michaelson and Colbie Caillat.
