Utah-based Juana Ghani is a 10-piece acoustic Gypsy rock band that mixes original compositions and traditional world folk songs, infusing them with punk energy and theatric sensibility to create a cabaret-meets-rock-n-roll feel.
Known for fabulously infectious music that is ‰ÛÏa savage, unrestricted mix of tradition, overlaid with rocking dynamism, suffused with unstoppable gypsy lust and dark desire, with an added touch of punk attitude,‰Û (Tim Carroll, FolkWords) their shows are filled with anarchy, hazy dreams, and dark fantasies, songs that are full of ‰ÛÏsemi-nightmarish fantasies of violence, revenge, desire and struggle‰Û (Savannah Turk, City Weekly), and music that is ‰ÛÏfull of love, death, sex, grief, passion and vodka.‰Û(Oliver Arditi, LiveUnsigned) Often accompanied by belly dancers, aerialists, fire dancers, hula hoopers and cirque performers, Juana Ghani puts on a raucous and charismatic show, drawing influences from such Gypsy/World punk troubadours as Gogol Bordello, Firewater and Viza ‰ÛÒ all with a poetic balladry likened to that of Tom Waits and Nick Cave.
Juana Ghani has two (2) full-length CDs under their belts: "Shall We Live Forever" (released in 2012) and "She Lost Her Head" (released in 2014).
