Left On State
LEFT ON STATE BIO
Formed in 2023 in Salt Lake City, LEFT ON STATE was founded by Robby DeBry, trombonist and graduate of Southern Utah University with a degree in music composition and guitarist Nick Justice. Their desire to play live shows and record an EP of third wave ska music stemmed from their attraction to ska due to its history with social and political movements and contributions to civil rights.
Next to join was saxophonist Justin Jaramillo whom Robbie had played with in college. Bassist Aaron Hodson was next to join after auditioning a dozen locals and finding Aaron to be the best fit and most knowledgeable of ska music. Drummer, Erik Hutchins, soon joined the band, as it was obvious that his background in jazz and funk drumming would add the backbeat and groove needed to complete the sound the band was looking for.
While guitarist Nick Justice was more than fit for lead singing duties, the most recent addition to Left On State is lead singer Elena Sanchez. Her background as an actress and lead in musical theater added to the energy for live performances.
The band is currently recording their first EP featuring original material while their live performances currently focuses on popular ska songs and ska versions of top 40 hits including songs by Lady Gaga, Chappel Roan and Amy Winehouse. Demo available upon request.
