Pearly Blue
Three of Utah's All-Star Musicians Coming Together to Explore the Sounds They Love Most.
Pearly Blue is an acoustic trio emerging from Salt Lake City's vibrant folk and roots community. Drawing inspiration from the front-porch traditions of bluegrass, old-time, and even classic country music, the band centers around close harmonies, expressive fiddle melodies, and thoughtful arrangements that highlight the emotional core of traditional songs.
While Pearly Blue is a new collaboration, the trio is made up of three established musicians who have long been part of Utah's folk and bluegrass landscape. Banjoist and vocalist Melissa Chilinski, known for her work with Pompe n Honey, brings a distinctive voice and rhythmic banjo style that blends old-time tradition with jazz and country influences. Megan Nay, a member of the Lower Lights, adds rich melodic textures shaped by her love for both old-time and bluegrass traditions. Mandolinist Brielle Petrie, a member of Stomping Cactus, rounds out the trio on octave mandolin with a warm, grounded, and precise approach to traditional music.
The group formed naturally out of friendship and years of crossing paths in Utah's tight-knit roots music scene. What began as a simple idea between friends quickly revealed a sound that felt effortless and deeply connected. Their performances feature warm three-part harmonies, fiddle tunes, and lonesome songs delivered with intention and ease.
Though still in its early stages, Pearly Blue has already begun generating excitement within the regional folk community. Their chemistry on stage reflects the genuine bond between the three female musicians - something audiences immediately feel.
Together, Pearly Blue offers a sound that feels both familiar and fresh: music rooted in tradition but carried forward by the voices and friendship of three artists who clearly love playing together
