Penrose
Penrose is an original modern rock band hailing from Salt Lake City, Utah. Think Indie Blues Rock with tasty swaths of Alternative & Pop wedged into the joints.
Vocalist Madison Penrose is no stranger to the microphone, having been an American Idol National Top 30 Finalist and winner of the Utah Idol competition in 2014.
Forming in April 2015, the band found their feet quickly. “It was pretty obvious from the very first rehearsal with the guys that we had something that was really good, high energy, and unique” says Madison. “Everything just came together really easily. Within just a few months, we were out playing shows with all original material and the audiences were really into what we were doing. It was pretty exciting!”
Audiences are treated to a high energy and dynamic show, with the 4 piece transitioning seamlessly between a gritty blues rock attitude and energetic alt rock anthems, to lighter acoustic numbers that showcase Madisons formidable vocal range. Their style has prompted comparisons to Paramore, ZZ Ward and Pink.
Past highlights include performing at the 2019 City Weekly Best of Utah Awards, support performances with various national touring acts such as Dreamers, Switchfoot, Dorothy and Wayland, and an exceptional Main Stage performance delighting a 4000 strong crowd at the Snowbasin Brews, Blues & Bbq Summer Concert series (UT). Penrose have impressed television audiences with live appearances on Comcast Cable Networks, Fox 13 TV, Park City Television and Xfinity Television.
Penrose’s 2020 studio EP “Barricades” has produced some crowd favorites with “Make you Love Me”, “Bones” and “Down”, joining the bands earlier EP releases "Beautiful Mistake" and "Light it Up". Buoyed by the bands energetic live performances, TV appearances and radio play in Salt Lake City, the band has quickly developed into a Utah favorite and are consistently impressing growing crowds every show.
