Raccoon Rodeo
Raccoon Rodeo (the band) started as an exchange of songs on Green Street in Salt Lake City, Utah. Founding members Adam P. and Pete Knudsen would pop their heads over the privacy fence and say “wanna jam?”
Today the “wanna jam” boys have filled out into the recognizable act of Raccoon Rodeo. Now complemented by mandolin, banjo, fiddle, standup bass, and drums, the original tunes have taken on new life and new tunes keep coming.
Bordering on bluegrass but sticking to the fringes, Raccoon Rodeo pulls from influences in folk, rock, blues, and punk to fuse a cohesive and distinctly unique sound. Having such diverse influences has helped the group play notable venues and events around Utah including Kilby Court, Desert Reverie Fest, and (the band’s favorite) the Wasatch Community Gardens Tomato Sandwich Party. In their upcoming debut album, Dumpster Dive Demos, the band leans into their love of improvisation in a set of live recordings captured over a weekend in Elko, Nevada.
