Talia Keys
Talia Keys is a force to be reckoned with. As a cross-genre, multi-instrumentalist, singer, songwriter, based out of Salt Lake City, Utah, she entertains locally, nationally and internationally solo as well as fronting various projects. When performing solo Talia live loops electric guitars, bass, synthesizer, drum machine, beat-boxing and vocals for her one woman band, Gemini Mind. Synergizing an old school vibe with new school beats, sporting her brand of funky blues-soul-reggae-rock n' roll, with the rawness of Janis Joplin and the fire of Jimi Hendrix. Which is best described by Katie Bain for Insomniac's Best of Electric Forest 2014 article as "blistering." Having being "struck by her talent, stage presence and refreshing candor."
Dubbed "the hardest working musician in town," she keeps herself busy. So far in 2015 Talia has been direct support for artists such as Michael Franti, Blues Traveler and Karl Denson. She recorded and released her new 11 song solo album, Fool's Gold. Tracking most of the parts herself, Talia enlisted help from ten of Salt Lake's finest to recreate the album live for an All Star release show at The State Room, SLC, UT (July 31). Also, this summer she headlined Women's Redrock Music Festival, Roots of the Rocks Revival, opened The Mystic Hot Springs Music Festival, performed all four days at The Electric Forest Music Fest and closed out the season headlining The Moab Pride Festival. All part of her coast to coast nation wide tour that started June 3rd and ended Sep 27th. Just in time to begin rehearsals for Equality Utah's annual Allies Gayla, where she had the pleasure of performing with the talented Tyler Glenn of Neon Trees, Lisa Giacoletto and Cole McClure.
In 2014 Talia played 149 shows, recorded and released her solo EP- Gemini Mind, toured across the United States, filmed a commercial, licensed her original song "Me" for Salt Lake City Tourism's new re-branding campaign SKI CITY, and was named at the top of Insomniac's (EDC) 2014 Best of Electric Forest.
In addition to Gemini Mind you can find her fronting as a lead vocal-drummer/guitarist in various Talia Keys & Friends projects or at one of her tribute shows (Grateful Dread, 27 Club, Woodstock, Michael Jackson).
Talia plays all types of music venues, music festivals and film festivals including 2010-15 Sundance Film Festival, 2014-15 Electric Forest Music Festival, 2013 Arise Music Festival, 2011 European Independent Film Festival, 2015 TGR film premier, Utah Burning Man, headlined 2015 Women's Redrock Music Festival, Desert Rocks Music Festival, Roots of The Rocks, Uncle Uncanny's, Building Man, Melon Nights, Groovefest and Snowbasin BBQ and Blues.
Talia is an advocate for human rights and uses her music to convey a message of growth, awareness and love. She hopes to inspire compassion and respect for our Earth and one another. "Music is very healing. If I can inspire just one person a show, I feel I am doing something right!"
